WHY IT MATTERS

Charge at home, wake up full

In short: a home EV charger is a Level 2 (240-volt) station wired to a dedicated circuit in your garage or driveway. It charges most EVs five to seven times faster than a standard outlet, so you plug in overnight and leave every morning with a full battery. Most installs take a few hours, and we provide a flat quote after a free assessment.

Public charging is slow, crowded, and rarely where you need it. A home charger changes that: you pull into your garage, plug in, and wake up to a full battery, with no stations, no waiting, and usually a lower cost than gas or public charging.

We install Level 2 chargers on a dedicated, code-compliant circuit, confirm your panel has the capacity, and handle the permit and inspection. Whether you have a ChargePoint, a Tesla Wall Connector, or any other charger, we wire it in safely and cleanly.

Flat River Electric installs home EV chargers for homeowners across Grand Rapids, Ada, East Grand Rapids, Rockford, Grandville and Wyoming, and throughout West Michigan.

LEVEL 1 VS LEVEL 2

How fast do you want to charge?

The difference between a standard outlet and a Level 2 charger is night and day.

Level 1

120V standard outlet

Adds only three to five miles of range per hour. Fine for a plug-in hybrid, but slow for a full EV.

Level 2

240V, recommended

Adds roughly twenty-five to thirty-five miles of range per hour, so most EVs charge fully overnight.

Hardwired or Plug-In

Your setup

Level 2 can be hardwired for a clean, permanent look, or wired to a NEMA 14-50 outlet for a plug-in charger.

Not sure which charger or setup fits your car and garage? We’ll help you choose during your free assessment.

FAQ

Home EV charging questions, answered

Cost depends on the distance from your panel to the charger, whether your panel has spare capacity, and the charger you choose. After a free assessment we give you a clear, flat quote, with no surprises.

A Level 2 charger adds roughly 25 to 35 miles of range per hour for most EVs, so you plug in overnight and wake up full. Exact speed depends on your vehicle and charger.

Not always. We check your panel’s capacity during the assessment. If there is not enough room, we coordinate a panel or service upgrade so your charger runs safely.

Both work. Hardwiring gives a clean, permanent look and supports higher power; a NEMA 14-50 outlet lets you unplug and take a portable charger with you. We help you decide.

We install ChargePoint, Tesla Wall Connector, and any other Level 2 charger, and our installs work with every EV brand. Bring your own or we help you pick.

Yes. We install weather-rated chargers outdoors and run power to detached garages, sizing everything for the distance.

Most installs take just a few hours, and you can charge that night. Timing depends on the wiring run and any panel work.
