Electric Panel Replacement

Residential, Multi-family, Commercial

West Michigan’s Elite Electrical Contractor Since 2009!

Electric Panel Replacement Near Me

It can be easy to forget your home’s electrical panel even exists. Other than the times when you need to flip a circuit breaker, the panel is out of sight, out of mind. However, that doesn’t mean issues can’t arise. There may come a time when you need the panel inspected and replaced by our West Michigan electricians.

Here’s what you need to know about replacing the electrical panel in your home.

What Does an Electrical Panel Do?

In short, an electrical panel is a metal box that contains the breaker switches for your house. The panel is responsible for supplying the right amount of power to different areas of your home and can last up to 40 years when properly maintained.

You’ll typically find the electrical panel out of view in a more discreet location like the garage or basement. It can be dangerous to upgrade or replace an electrical panel on your own which is why it’s important to leave the job to our Grand Rapids electrical contractors.

Why You Should Consider Replacement

Unfortunately, electrical panels don’t last forever and are not always built to accommodate the needs of every family. Because of this, we offer electrical panel replacement at Flat River Electric.

Common signs that you need to replace your home’s electrical panel include:

  • The panel itself is over 25 years old
  • You notice a burnt smell near or inside of the electrical panel
  • The circuit breakers trip often
  • You need more circuits to accommodate additional outlets
  • A new appliance has been installed and has a higher electrical draw
  • Your old panel is hot when touched or has visible rust
  • Lights in your home flicker or dim when plugged in
  • The panel has been directly damaged (i.e., a car bumped it if located in the garage)

If any of the above sound familiar, it may be time to replace your electrical panel. Our team of experienced Grand Rapids electricians will take a look at the electrical panel in your home and walk you through our replacement process so you’re aware of every detail and never surprised.

I very rarely leave reviews, but I had to do so for Flat River because of how impressed I was. Everything from the first walk through and quote, to the communication leading up to the service and then the service itself was first class. Torie was great to work with and explained everything in detail so I knew what to expect in terms of the scale of work and cost. I would highly recommend Torie and Flat River Electric and will call them again for any future electrical needs.

Jon did a great job for us! We were redoing the ceiling in our kitchen, which required a bit of electrical work. Jon got the prep work done for us quickly, so we could get to work. Upon completion of our portion, Jon was back and installing our new lighting. Great work, good value. Thanks.

I hired Flat River Electric two different times recently for services inside my home here in Lowell. Torie was the electrician each time. It’s obvious he loves his trade because He is very professional and knows exactly what he’s doing.
Going forward, I would recommend him and this company to anyone looking for a quality electrical job done, inside or out.
